DIRECTOR
Becca Donley (she/her) is originally from Mounds View, Minnesota in the USA. She moved to Scotland in 2023 to pursue a masters degree in directing from Edinburgh Napier University, and now is here to stay! Becca feels a strong sense of belonging in Scotland and the Scottish theatre scene as a whole.
Becca began her love for theatre at a young age with two musically inclined parents subjecting her to showtunes. Performances in the living room with her sister evolved into summer theatre camps and creating drama clubs in primary school, leading those in secondary and inevitably deciding to pursue a career in Theatre. She obtained her Bachelor's degree from University of Wisconsin River Falls, double majoring in Vocal Performance and Stage and Screen Arts. Unfortunately she was one of the not so lucky few to graduate during the pandemic. But that didn’t stop her. Becca worked at high schools and middle schools directing and assisting theatre, adapting with it every day. Once the world began to open up again, more possibilities arose. She moved to Scotland and began her course at Napier where she would direct scene studies on Almost, Maine, Christmas Carol, Cymbeline, All Honey and Di and Viv and Rose. Over the course of the past year she has been developing a new play to take to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe with playwright Emery Schaffer titled Good For You.
Becca's directing style is unique and inclusive, centering marginalised voices telling new and inventive stories. Extra points for being a bit weird. Becca is thrilled to be a director and to get to make art as a career.
